Warner Home Video to release original "King Kong" on Blu-Ray, Sept 28

Check this out Kong fanatics, on September 28 you'll be able to get your paws on the Blu-Ray disc of "King Kong." This is the 1933 classic from RKO which the Blu-Ray will feature "all of the extras from the highly rated two-disc DVD special edition released in 2005."

The Hollywood Reporter says,
To coincide with the Peter Jackson remake, the Blu-ray will come with a 32-page booklet featuring rare photographs and trivia and is written by film historian Rudy Behlmer, who interviewed "Kong" creator Merian C. Cooper back in the day.

Guillermo Del Toro quits "The Hobbit"

Filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro is leaving the Peter Jackson produced "The Hobbit" project which would've had the "Hellboy" helmer directing back-to-back films based on J.R.R Tolkien's classic book. Citing the recent delays, Del Toro says he's not able to commit to the film's 6-year production haul, although he will still be attached to co-write the film's screenplay.

In a written statement to TheOneRing.Net, Del Toro writes,
"In light of ongoing delays in the setting of a start date for filming "The Hobbit," I am faced with the hardest decision of my life. After nearly two years of living, breathing and designing a world as rich as Tolkien's Middle Earth, I must, with great regret, take leave from helming these wonderful pictures. I remain grateful to Peter, Fran and Philippa Boyens, New Line and Warner Brothers and to all my crew in New Zealand ..."Full details here

Dennis Hopper, the maverick director and costar of the landmark 1969 counterculture film classic "Easy Rider" whose drug- and alcohol-fueled reputation as a Hollywood bad boy preceded his return to sobriety and a career resurgence in the films " Hoosiers" and "Blue Velvet," died Saturday. He was 74.
