EW is confirming director Adam McKay, the helmer behind Will Ferrel's comedy hit "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," is the front-runner to sit in the director's chair for Sony's "The Boys." Yes, this is the movie version of Garth Ennis' extreme violent comic book series about a super-powered CIA team who hunt down corrupted superheroes. And yes, this would be McKay's first foray into something other than comedy. Along with "Anchorman," McKay has partnered with Ferrel on "Talladega Nights, "Step Brothers" and the popular website FunnyOrDie.com in which the two produced the very funny viral-video entitled "The Landlord" featuring a foul-mouthed baby girl played by McKay's real-life daughter Pearl. via hollywoodinsider.ew.com
