
Columbia Pictures is hunting down a director for "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance," the sequel to their blockbuster "Ghost Rider" which starred Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze, the stunt motorcyclist who transforms into a fire-blazing demon. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio is talking to Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, the film-makers behind the "Crank" series, about taking on the directing duties. And Columbia is also negotiating with Cage to come back for the sequel. So far, the project is new but the studio is hoping to start production in late fall.

Actor Michael Hogan will go from fighting Cylons to fighting werewolves, as the "Battlestar Galactica" vet joins the cast of WB's supernatural thriller, "Red Riding Hood." Hogan will play a "a mysterious character named The Reeve," says TheWrap.com. In this new take of the "Little Red Riding Hood" tale, "Red" stars Amanda Seyfried as a young woman who is caught in a triangle between her soon-to-be husband and an orphaned woodcutter she loves. The film, which will be directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight), is set in a medieval village "that is haunted by a werewolf." Full details here.

Deadline is confirming "Spider-man" director Sam Raimi will direct Disney's 3D prequel to "Wizard of Oz." Entitled "Oz: The Great And Powerful," the film will be develop with the idea of Robert Downey Jr. playing the Wizard of Oz, even though the Iron Man star hasn't officially signed on. Deadline reports the film's plot will focus on the Wizard of Oz before he became the Great And Powerful Wizard - they write "he's in fact a circus wrangler transported by tornado to the mysterious world of Oz where he gets mistaken for a know-it-all." Disney is hoping "Oz" will have the same money-making result as their other re-imagined 3D fantasy, "Alice In Wonderland."
