EW is confirming director Adam McKay, the helmer behind Will Ferrel's comedy hit "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," is the front-runner to sit in the director's chair for Sony's "The Boys." Yes, this is the movie version of Garth Ennis' extreme violent comic book series about a super-powered CIA team who hunt down corrupted superheroes. And yes, this would be McKay's first foray into something other than comedy. "Dr. Strange" will likely be the first Marvel comic book movie that would fall under the Disney banner, says Deadline.com If you remember the news from last year, it was reported that Disney spent about $4 billion to acquire Marvel Entertainment and since then, fans have speculated on which comic book property would or should get the next big-screen treatment. "Dr. Strange" was the likely contender and now has been confirmed as Disney hires screenwriters Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer to pen the screenplay for "Strange." Donnelly and Oppenheimer has quietly become one of the hottest writer teams in Hollywood right now. Their credits include writing Lionsgate's upcoming "Conan" reboot and an early draft for Dreamwork's "Cowboys and Aliens," plus Donnelly and Oppenheimer has also written the highly anticipated video-game based movie, "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" for Sony.
